2-1 Mentoring

The flagship program of MusicReach where 25 undergraduate students mentor two students each, providing them with valuable musical skill development as well as positive guidance on life choices.  Mentoring is currently available for classical and jazz. 

Beginning Strings

Students are provided with the opportunity to play and learn the violin, viola, cello, or bass at Pine Villa Elementary, Mays Conservatory afterschool, and Miami Heights Elementary.  Students at the Barnyard learn ukulele.  

General Music/Drumming

Young students are given opportunities to experience music fundamentals building in a fun and enriching environment where they experience singing, dancing, listening, and drumming at the Barnyard.

Modern Band and Music Technology

Students receive instruction on guitar, bass, keyboard, percussion, singing, as well as music technology software at Leadership Learning Center and Frederick Douglass Elementary.  MusicReach also provides afterschool music technology club at Mays Conservatory and is the STEAM partner for Sweetwater Elementary.  

Choir/Music Theater

Students receive group instruction in choral ensembles and musical theatre, infused with music fundamentals and vocal technique at Miami Norland High School.

Music Therapy

Students at Miami Northwestern High and Ferguson High receive group music therapy sessions geared for students with disabilities.  MusicReach also partners with Jam Sessions to provide on-campus music therapy and music-making experiences serving area students with disabilities.  

Off-Campus Mentoring

Students at Mays Conservatory and South Miami High receive individualized instruction on string, winds, brass, and voice by Frost students.

Summer Institute

This full-scholarship summer music camp builds skills for small ensembles, production planning, digital media, music technology, music theory/ear training, piano proficiency, college application prep, and enrichment through guest artist and faculty seminars.

Outreach Performances and Masterclasses

Frost students provide masterclasses for students at non-profit organizations and schools, and also perform outreach performances at schools, parks, and hospitals throughout Miami-Dade.
